Curriculum

The curriculum we will be using has already been used in schools in 23 other states, and in 30 different countries. The classes focus on building a core knowledge sequence and the materials have been developed by experts from all over the world. The curriculum is rigorous and mastery based and allows the students to move at their required pace. Students are placed in classes based on age and skill level, not simply by grade level. By doing this, students are at a level they are most comfortable with and are able to receive optimal support so that they can succeed in their coursework.
Our elementary program offers 75 courses in 7 different subjects, which include Language Arts/English, History, Science, Math, Art, Music, and World Languages (Spanish, French, Latin, German, Chinese). The school will provide a computer for each household and will also provide all of the basic materials necessary for the student to complete their work. These materials include textbooks, cd's, videos, science materials and equipment, music instruments, art supplies, manipulatives, and more. All of their lessons will be organized into daily and weekly schedules, accessible anytime day or night, through their personalized Online School page.
Our high school program offers more than 105 courses, including 3 to 4 versions of the core classes (core, comprehensive, honors, and AP). An Individualized Learning Plan for each student, allows them to chart their course to success during and after high school. Students will also be engaged through online forums, clubs and networks. Students in high school will also be provided with a computer and additional materials needed for their classwork, including but not limited to textbooks, art supplies, musical instruments, and science equipment and supplies.

Proposed School Schedule

We are proposing a hybrid model, which blends online learning with face-to-face classroom instruction. It allows for the student to have the strongest support system and puts parent responsibility and involvement front and center in their child's education.
For our elementary students they will attend the on-site learning center 1 day per week and will complete the remainder of their work with a parent or other designated adult, which we call their"Learning Coach", in an off-site learning center (typically at home). During their days off-site they will still have access to teacher help online in any of the lessons they need assistance with. Parents, or Learning Coaches, will also have access to instructor help and support in assisting their students.
Our high school students will attend the on-site learning center 2 days a week and will complete the remainder of their studies in their home-based work center. They will also have access to help from their instructors as well as the other students in their classes.
